Davis Family

This is such a beautiful family. Kelly wrote me, looking to have family portraits taken before her husband deploys to Okinawa, Japan for over six months. I can't even begin to imagine what life would be like with my partner on the other side of the world, let alone, raising two boys, working full time, and still holding it all together, like Kelly does. Kelly and Bryce are such a strong couple...the best part is they met in elementary school - Yes! Elementary school! Here they are now; incredible role models to their children.

Love this adorable shot of baby Ben and Mom sneaking a kiss.

Let me just tell you that little Aaron was not having it. He was calm, just shaking his head saying "no, no, no" as I tried to reason with him to get a smile. I love his confidence. Not screaming, not running, just confident, telling me "no thanks lady, not in the mood to have my picture taken today." That's okay. Sometimes, it happens. I am most happy to stop that one moment in time of Dad dancing with Aaron on his shoulders. I didn't get a big cheesy grin... but I did get Dad and the special bond he has with his son.

Thank you for letting me capture a few perfect moments of your family.

So you've booked a session... Now What?

Once you've booked a photo session with me, there are a few things we'll need to coordinate prior to your day.

Location:
Let's decide on a location! I encourage you to check out my blog to see if any locations catch your eye. If you have a specific location you would like, let's do it! I think its important to choose a location that has meaning to you. I am open to traveling anywhere within the Phoenix Metro area.

Wardrobe:
Please see my previous post HERE. Your session does include one outfit change. Some locations do not have nearby restrooms to change in, so please keep that in mind as you may be changing in your car. :)

Time:
The best lighting to photograph in is just before sunset. This light is best because it is not as harsh as afternoon or morning sun which can cause shadows and squinty eyes. I will start your session 90 minutes before the sun sets for that day. It is imperative that you are on time to your session so we can take full advantage of the light.

Cancel/Reschedules:
If you need to cancel or reschedule your photo session, please let me know as soon as possible.

Your images:
I will edit each image for you, and additionally will provide many options in both color and black and white. I spend approximately two weeks editing your images before mailing to you. Your images will be presented to you on a high-resolution CD with a copyright release so you may print or share as you please. I will also post a sneak peak on my blog for you to view prior to receiving your images. If you would like a recommendation for a professional print shop, please let me know.

Payment:
Your payment is due in full at the time of the session. Cash or check is accepted.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Wardrobe Suggestions

Goodbye Summer (almost) and Hello Photography Season! I am super excited to meet new clients, and catch up with my fun "regulars."
I understand the stress in finding the best wardrobe for your family photo session. Here are some tips to help you out!

  • Don't be afraid of COLOR, PATTERNS and TEXTURE. I know this sounds scary for some of you (my Mom is terrified of color, so I get it.) The most creative images are those with fun pops of color and layers. So you don't go overboard, I always suggest dressing in neutrals (grays, black, white, navy/denim - in all shades) and add "pops" of color. For example, Dad's undershirt peaking through his button-up, or tie or socks can be in the pop color. Maybe Mom is wearing a scarf, or chunky necklace in the same color, etc. I love when my clients experiment with patterns, too! Mix and match your neutrals in chevron, herringbone, and who doesn't love argyle?!?! Pops of color can be lime green, teal, purple, orange, etc. (See the images below for ideas!)
  • Don't wear something if you aren't comfortable, because you will LOOK and feel uncomfortable. I promise. If you never wear fancy dresses and heals, then don't! Play up on what you would normally wear.
  • Your shoes will show in some of the images, so please make sure you like them. :)
  • Most importantly, have fun and try not to stress. I bet your favorite picture is the one where you are laughing with your kids, even if one of your hairs is out of place.
Don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions. See you soon!
